The practice
The Crace Medical Centre is a mixed billing practice located in Crace Central shopping centre and is situated within a DPA. The medical centre opened in 2018 and was acquired by Trans-Ax Health Care in 2020.
The practice is modern, high tech and features Donna Sharam’s vibrant art. Our team of doctors is well supported by innovative technology and dedicated staff. Waurn Ponds Medical Centre uses the top clinical software – Best Practice, as well as one of the largest online health appointment booking services – HotDoc.

We aim to grow the clinical team in line with the high patient demand, as well as bring a freshness and warmth to the feel of the practice. The shopping centre
Crace Central is a local retail centre offering a Supabarn supermarket, cafes, take away, thai massage, hair salon & a Club Lime gym.
Crace was named after Edward Kendall Crace, an original settler in the Gungahlin area.

Crace - Gungahlin
Gungahlin is a fast growing district of the ACT with a population of 71,142. A convenient and attractive place to live, the area has great proximity to other parts of Canberra along with nature just around the corner.
The district has many new housing developments, and is well serviced with light rail operating between Gungahlin and the City up to every 5 minutes.

Canberra
Canberra, the nation’s capital, has a population of around 400,000 people and covers 814 square kilometres.
All our medical centres in the area, except for Hyperdome, are in districts classified as DPA (Distribution Priority Area) and are near the CBD. This is in contrast with cities like Sydney or Melbourne where DPAs are much further away.
Canberra has been named the world’s most sustainable city in 2021, according to Uswitch. The 2019 ‘Life In Australia’ report from Ipsos market research named it as the most liveable city in the country – for the third year in a row. The study showed that Canberrans feel safer living here and happier about their access to work and education than the residents of every other Australian capital city. Canberra was also named by Lonely Planet as the world’s third best city to travel to in 2018 (ahead of Melbourne and Sydney in 6th and 7th place).
Canberra offers a terrific diversity of attractions and experiences. There’s a whole world of cultural events, entertainment, dining, and places to visit – all contained within a city that is easy to get around.

Finding a home
Property prices are lower and more reasonable in Canberra compared to other major cities such as Sydney and Melbourne. The Australian Capital Territory has a median house price of $722,440 and a median unit price of $426,719 (Domain House Price Report, March 2019).
Accessibility and infrastructure
Canberra is well laid out and easy to get around by car, bus, bicycle or on foot. The city provides convenient vehicle and bike access due to future-proofed roads and there is abundant parking. The latest transport option is the Canberra Metro light rail line, with stage-1 northwards from the CBD to Gungahlin in service now and plans for further links under consideration or soon to commence construction.
Environment
Canberra abounds with beautiful lakes and spectacular bushland with many bush walks, bike trails and wildlife reserves to explore. Canberra is known as ‘the bush capital’ of Australia. The centrepiece of Canberra is the large man-made Lake Burley Griffin, which is an ideal water playground for rowing, sailing and kayaking. Cyclists and walkers are well catered for along the 40km shoreline, with numerous parks and gardens to enjoy.
Childcare and schooling
There is a wide range of childcare, preschool, primary school and secondary school facilities in Canberra, with a variety of privately-run and Government-provided options. The A.C.T. is home to the Australian National University, which was ranked first in Australia and 24th globally in the prestigious QS World University Rankings for 2019.
Multiculturalism
Canberra is home to a population with diverse multicultural backgrounds. A recent study showed that 6% of A.C.T. residents reported speaking a language other than English at home – the most common being Italian followed by Macedonian, German, Filipino, Mandarin, and Punjabi (ABS data 2016).
A.C.T. government figures show that the biggest groups of migrants who decide to take up citizenship in the territory were from South Africa, the United Kingdom, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, China, Vietnam and the Philippines. Population Australia lists the top six countries of birth for people in Canberra as being from: Australia, England, China, India, New Zealand and Vietnam.
